The K-AI Alliance held its annual event 'Unite 2024' on the 12th in Silicon Valley, USA, and announced its decision to broaden the alliance's membership to consolidate domestic AI capabilities. This event was the second since June last year, with a large number of representatives from alliance partner companies participating, including SKT CEO Yoo Young-sang.

The event was attended by a total of 15 companies, including SKT, Moloco, Bespin Global, PhantomAI, TwoArt, Scatter Lab, C-MES, Machinarax, PersonaAI, Gauss Labs, Imprimed, Conan Technology, Sapeon, Rabble Up, and XL8.

At the event, all participating companies agreed on the necessity of expanding alliance partners to unite South Korea's AI capabilities in one place. They decided to transition to an open alliance based on sharing, cooperation, and participation, and to actively expand participation from AI companies interested in the alliance.

SKT stated that large-scale participation of capable AI companies is essential to keep pace with changes in AI technology, and that it will accelerate the expansion of partner companies from the perspectives of technology and business cooperation. They also anticipated that the consolidated AI capabilities would invigorate the domestic AI ecosystem.

At this event, two AI tech companies, Rabble Up and XL8, newly joined the alliance, expanding the number of partner companies to 18. Rabble Up is a company that provides GPU and AI computing efficiency platforms in the generative AI field. XL8 offers solutions such as 'MediaCat,' which provides AI-based subtitles, translation, and dubbing, and 'EventCat,' an AI solution for real-time interpretation.

The event also included lectures and panel discussions with experts from global AI market-leading companies such as OpenAI and Perplexity to gain insights into the AI field.

Korean venture capital firm Primer Sazze, based in Silicon Valley, and Korean AI company Upstage, which recently established a corporation in Silicon Valley, attended and conducted lectures and panel discussions to review the expansion of the K-AI ecosystem and the role and necessity of startup coalitions.

C-MES, a partner company preparing for an IPO, shared its growth story as a leading AI robotics company that has successfully applied AI technology in actual industrial sites, and exchanged opinions on ways to discover additional success cases.

Going forward, the K-AI Alliance plans to continue various discussions to enhance competitiveness in the global AI market.

Yoo Young-sang, CEO of SKT, said, "It is impossible to keep up with the pace of AI innovation alone, and cooperation is essential. From this perspective, the K-AI Alliance will play a very important role in the AI industry." He added, "We will lead the development of South Korea's AI industry and demonstrate K-AI's strength in the global AI market based on strong technology and cooperation."
