Cooperating with Seoul City to Bridge Educational Gaps
Gangnam-gu Offers Over 20,000 Gangnam Ingang Lectures for Free
Gangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) announced on the 14th that, in collaboration with Seoul City, it will provide over 20,000 lectures from ‘Gangnam Ingang’ free of charge to learners on Seoul City’s online education content platform ‘Seoul Learn’ starting from the 15th.
Gangnam Ingang and Seoul Learn signed a written business agreement on the 15th and officially began the service. Gangnam Ingang, an online lecture learning platform directly operated by Gangnam-gu since 2004, offers 1,596 courses and over 20,000 lectures featuring 68 renowned instructors.
The collaboration between the two educational platforms aimed at bridging the education gap is expected to create a synergy effect in the field of public education content.
With a subscription fee of 50,000 KRW (30,000 KRW for Gangnam residents), unlimited access to all courses is provided throughout the year, leading efforts to reduce private education costs and strengthen public education. Seoul Learn, a flagship project of Seoul City’s ‘Walking with the Vulnerable’ initiative, has been offering famous internet lectures and one-on-one mentoring free of charge to vulnerable students aged 6 to 24 since 2021.
Seoul Learn learners can choose one course from 12 offered by private education providers and simultaneously select from four public education EBS courses. Gangnam Ingang’s middle and high school courses are included in Seoul Learn’s curriculum. As Gangnam Ingang courses are considered public education courses, learners can take them concurrently with other courses, making them accessible to virtually all Seoul Learn users.
Additionally, the development of Single Sign-On (SSO) service between the sites has improved login convenience. Logging into Seoul Learn allows users to immediately access the Gangnam Ingang learning site without a separate login to watch lectures. Moving forward, the two institutions plan to jointly produce and share non-curricular content.
District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong stated, “Through this agreement, we plan to expand the inflow channels of Gangnam Ingang and provide high-quality courses to more learners,” adding, “Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Gangnam Ingang will continue to broaden its scope and serve as a reliable partner for students who study to achieve their dreams.”
