Former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, was holding a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on the afternoon of the 13th (local time) when multiple gunshots were fired around the rally site, causing the event to be halted.

At around 6:10 PM (Eastern Time) during his campaign speech criticizing the Biden administration's illegal immigration policies, several gunshots rang out from somewhere nearby.
Immediately after touching the back of his right neck with his right hand, Trump quickly ducked below the podium, and several security guards rushed up to the stage to protect him.
Intermittent gunshots continued during this time, and people watching the rally behind the stage screamed, with some ducking down, while some voters showed expressions of confusion, unable to grasp what was happening.
Surrounded by security guards, Trump then stood up and raised his fist to his supporters, who cheered and shouted "USA."
Afterward, Trump was escorted down from the stage by security personnel, and blood was observed above his right ear and on his cheek. He then left the rally site by car.
However, it was not immediately confirmed whether the blood near his ear was a direct result of the shooting or caused while he was hiding behind the podium.
The Trump presidential campaign later issued a statement through a spokesperson saying, "He (former President Trump) is okay and is being examined at a local medical facility." They added, "President Trump expresses gratitude to the law enforcement officers and emergency responders who quickly responded to this heinous act."
The U.S. Secret Service also released a statement saying, "The Secret Service has implemented protective measures, and former President Trump is safe," adding, "An investigation into this incident is currently underway, and additional information will be released when available."
The White House reportedly informed that President Joe Biden has been briefed on the matter, according to AP News and others.
On X (formerly Twitter), thousands upon thousands of posts are flooding in with messages such as "Pray for Trump," "Trump was shot," and "God bless Trump."
