Assemblyman Andogeol: "We Will Fully Support the Advancement Project of Gwangju AI Cluster"

Attendance at the Opening Ceremony of GIST Graduate School of AI Policy and Strategy

Assemblyman Ando-geol (The Democratic Party of Korea · Gwangju Dong-gu Nam-gu Eul) attended the opening ceremony of the AI Policy Strategy Graduate School at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) and promised full support for the future advancement project of the Gwangju AI Cluster.


The AI Policy Strategy Graduate School is an institution that cultivates AI experts to solve problems in various fields by integrating AI technology, policy, education, literature, medicine, and entrepreneurship. It occupies a key position in the Gwangju AI Cluster development project.

Assemblyman Ahn actively worked to finalize the AI Cluster project plan and total project budget while serving as the Budget Director and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance.


During the four years of annual budget formulation and reflection, it is evaluated that securing and executing a budget of around 400 billion KRW proceeded smoothly.


Assemblyman Ahn said, “GIST played a midwife role in designating Gwangju as an AI-centered city and promoting the AI Cluster development project,” adding, “As a member of the National Assembly, I will do my utmost to ensure that the second phase project to advance the AI Cluster starts early through resolving preliminary feasibility study issues.”


He continued, “As the first domestic policy graduate school in the AI field, the GIST Policy Strategy Graduate School should take a leading role in establishing the institutional infrastructure necessary for our society to open the full-fledged AI era,” and stated, “I hope it will present solutions and alternatives to ethical and institutional issues such as personal information protection, intellectual property rights for original knowledge and information, and securing neutrality of AI learning information.”


Meanwhile, about 100 domestic and international figures from politics, business, and academia, including Assemblyman Ando-geol, attended the commemorative event held ahead of the full-scale opening of the AI Policy Strategy Graduate School.
