New Vision Emphasizing 'Trust and Innovation'
On the 12th, Yoonhong Heo, CEO of GS Construction, announced the new vision through a video on the company bulletin board. The new vision was set as "Completing a safer and happier future of life through transparent trust and relentless innovation." It reflects GS Construction's commitment to becoming a healthy company that builds a better world beyond simple construction.
The new vision implies that transparent trust must come first to gain broad social support, and innovation and attempts at new changes must back sustainable growth. It shows the ultimate direction to pursue rather than quantitative management goals.
Along with the new vision, GS Construction also unveiled six new core values to shape the mindset and organizational culture identity that employees should have. Among the new core values, the target values are 'Customer Orientation' and 'Trust.' The foundational values selected are ▲Autonomy and Responsibility ▲Integrity Management ▲Future Orientation ▲Professionalism.
The target values are keywords derived with the goal of prioritizing customer satisfaction and building internal and external trust. The foundational values reflect the will to create a sustainable company by having all employees work ethically with a sense of responsibility and professionalism to realize the target values.
The new vision was derived by gathering employees' opinions. Earlier this year, GS Construction underwent a business portfolio and organizational capability diagnosis by an external professional institution. The results, obtained through face-to-face interviews with over 300 department managers and executives, were shared with each business division head. Subsequently, ideas to achieve the core values were generated together with members through feedback from division heads and workshops by business units. .
GS Construction plans to build a stable business portfolio and strengthen risk management systems along with the new vision, focusing on solidifying internal capabilities rather than external growth to operate the company more stably.
Yoonhong Heo, CEO of GS Construction, said, "Through the new vision of completing a safer and happier future of life with transparent trust and relentless innovation, we will clarify the company's ultimate reason for existence and become a company that is more trusted and loved by all stakeholders."
Communicative Leader Yoonhong Heo Changes the Way of Working
As a CEO in his 40s, Heo is focusing on changing GS Construction's 'way of working' and is attempting various changes. Since mid-May, wearing shorts has been implemented to create an atmosphere where employees can work autonomously in a comfortable environment. To foster a horizontal organizational culture, honorifics will also be unified.
Office desk partitions have been boldly removed, and seats arranged horizontally. This is a measure to create a workplace where all team members work freely and openly. Additionally, to improve work efficiency, a digital-based work infrastructure will be established. GS Construction expects this to promote creativity and collaboration and enhance organizational flexibility.
Heo is recognized as a leader who emphasizes 'communication' in organizational management. During the process of deriving the vision and core values, he gathered employees' opinions to build consensus. This reflects Heo's management philosophy that a vision and core values created by employees themselves, which employees can empathize with, are much more effective in forming the foundation of organizational culture.
Sharing the vision on the company bulletin board, Heo said, "Employees are the company's most valuable asset," and promised, "We will also generously increase investments to strengthen human competitiveness so that employees can take pride in GS Construction."
