Selected for the Third Time in Engineering Following 2010 (Science) and 2012 (Health)
Choi Younghyun, Director of the Anti-Aging Research Institute at Dong-Eui University and Professor in the Department of Korean Medicine, has received the '34th Excellent Paper Award in Science and Technology for 2024,' recognized as the highest honor in the field in Korea.
At the awards ceremony held during the '2nd World Korean Scientists and Engineers Convention' on the 11th, organized by the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies, Professor Choi Younghyun was ultimately selected for the Excellent Paper Award in the field of engineering after being recommended by the Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengineering and undergoing a thorough evaluation process.
The award-winning paper by Professor Choi was published last year in Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering, an SCI/E journal issued by the Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengineering. The paper is titled 'Improvement of Oxidative Stress-induced Cytotoxicity of Angelica keiskei (Miq.) Koidz. Leaves Extract through Activation of Heme Oxygenase-1 in C2C12 Murine Myoblasts.'
Notably, Professor Choi Younghyun has now received this award for the third time, having previously been honored in 2010 (in the field of natural sciences) and in 2012 (in the field of health sciences), and this year in the field of engineering.
The Excellent Paper Award in Science and Technology, organized by the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies and the Ministry of Science and ICT, was established in 1991 to promote the advancement and modernization of science and technology. The award recognizes outstanding papers recommended by affiliated academic societies from among those published in over 400 domestic academic journals, selecting winners in the fields of natural sciences, engineering, agricultural and fisheries sciences, health sciences, and general studies.
This year, at the 34th edition, a total of 243 recipients were honored, including 32 in natural sciences, 88 in engineering, 37 in agricultural and fisheries sciences, 59 in health sciences, and 27 in general studies.
