Bucheon City in Gyeonggi announced on the 12th that it conducted a nighttime joint crackdown on illegal motorcycles and caught a total of 29 violating vehicles.
The joint crackdown, conducted together with Bucheon Wonmi Police Station and the Korea Transportation Safety Authority Southern Gyeonggi Headquarters, took place around the Wonmi-gu Jeonhwaguk Intersection area, where many noise complaints about delivery motorcycles occur.
The main targets of the crackdown were illegal tuning such as unauthorized LED headlights and muffler modifications, violations of safety standards such as illegal lighting device attachments, and operating without license plates or with damaged or covered plates.

As a result of the crackdown, the city identified a total of 29 illegal motorcycles. Depending on the violation, 28 cases will receive administrative penalties such as fines, and 1 case will face criminal charges including prosecution.
Illegal tuning is punishable by imprisonment of up to one year or a fine of up to 10 million won, violations related to license plates incur fines of up to 3 million won, and safety standard violations carry fines of up to 1 million won.
A Bucheon city official stated, "Recently, complaints have increased regarding sleep disturbances caused by speeding and reckless driving of illegally tuned delivery motorcycles during late-night hours," adding, "We plan to conduct periodic unannounced joint crackdowns together with the police station and the Korea Transportation Safety Authority."
