Starting This Month, Visiting Senior Centers for On-Site Inspection
One in Four Residents Is Aged 65 or Older

Lee Soon-hee, the mayor of Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, began on the 9th with a visit to Beonnam Senior Center, starting on-site communication by visiting 104 senior centers in the area.
On that day, Mayor Lee visited Beonnam Senior Center and Beon 1-dong Senior Center to check on the well-being of the elderly and inspect the operation status of the senior centers. She checked whether facilities such as air conditioning units were functioning properly and addressed any inconveniences.
Na Hee-dong, the chairman of Beonnam Senior Center, said, "It has been five years since we requested the establishment of a senior center in this area, and Beonnam Senior Center was finally established last June," expressing gratitude by adding, "Thanks to this, the elderly in this area are spending the summer cool and healthy."
Mayor Lee Soon-hee stated, "Gangbuk-gu has the highest proportion of elderly population among the 25 autonomous districts of Seoul," and added, "With the initial determination to support not only the elderly but all residents of Gangbuk-gu, I will continue to work tirelessly in the second half of the 8th term of the elected government to revitalize the local economy and realize the development of Gangbuk-gu."
Meanwhile, as of the end of last month, the proportion of the elderly population aged 65 and over in Gangbuk-gu was 24.5%, significantly exceeding the Seoul city average of 18.9%.
