Police Conduct Search and Seizure at Seoul Metro Corporation Over Alleged Supply Corruption

The police have launched a forced investigation into Seoul Transportation Corporation regarding allegations of corruption in supply contracts.

The Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 2 of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that they have been conducting a search and seizure at the Seoul Transportation Corporation headquarters office in Yongdap-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul since the morning of the 12th.

The police are reportedly securing materials to determine whether employees of the corporation are involved in the recently surfaced allegations of supply corruption.

Earlier, the police detected circumstances indicating that Mr. A, a department head-level employee belonging to the corporation’s Technology Headquarters, received golf entertainment during the supply contract process. After such a report was submitted to the corporation’s internal irregularities reporting center last month, the corporation filed a complaint against Mr. A with the Seongdong Police Station in Seoul.

The police have booked Mr. A and the supply-related private contract company on charges of bribery acceptance and offering, respectively. The Seongdong Police Station also conducted a search and seizure at the corporation’s headquarters on the 17th of last month. All three employees of the same headquarters, including Mr. A, have been suspended from their positions as of the 25th of last month.
