Agreement Signed for Mutual Cooperation Including Hosting Academic Events to Ensure Successful Expo
The 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo Organizing Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Organizing Committee) announced that on the 11th, at the Korean Tourism Association International Academic Conference held at the Yeosu Sono Calm Hotel, the Organizing Committee and the Korean Tourism Association signed the "Agreement for the Successful Hosting of the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo."
According to the Organizing Committee, the agreement was signed to coincide with the opening ceremony of the 96th Korean Tourism Association International Academic Conference held in Yeosu. The event was attended by Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, Jeong Ki-myeong, Mayor of Yeosu, and Ko Gye-seong, President of the Korean Tourism Association. The ceremony proceeded in the order of screening the expo promotional video, signing the agreement, and commemorative photo session.
The agreement promises cooperation for hosting academic events for the success of the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo, sharing domestic and international island tourism networks, and the Organizing Committee pledged to actively support the Korean Tourism Association's participation in the expo.
Jeong Ki-myeong, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee (Mayor of Yeosu), said, "I sincerely thank the Korean Tourism Association for joining forces to ensure the successful hosting of the Islands Expo," adding, "We will do our best to prepare so that this Islands Expo preserves island ecological culture, spreads the future value of islands, and becomes an international event of shared prosperity."
The Organizing Committee plans to continue strengthening cooperation with related domestic and international organizations and expand promotion to ensure the successful hosting of the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo.
Meanwhile, the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo will be held for two months from September 5 to November 4, 2026, at Dolsan Jinmo District (main venue), Yeosu World Expo Site, Geumo Island, and Gae Island (sub-venues). At the main venue, island-related theme pavilions, ecological culture pavilions, and future pavilions will be exhibited, along with various world island cultural performances. At the sub-venues, maritime content and immersive content are planned, promising to guide visitors into the mysterious world of islands.
