At around 5 a.m. on the 12th, a fire occurred inside the plane arriving at Incheon International Airport. The cause was a lithium-based auxiliary battery carried by a passenger. Fortunately, a flight attendant calmly poured water on the fire after noticing smoke rising, extinguishing the flames.

Among the approximately 180 passengers on board, no injuries were reported, and the plane safely landed at Incheon Airport about 30 minutes later, completing its operation without issues.

Eastar Jet stated, "It was confirmed that the battery overheated and caught fire," and announced that the investigation has been concluded.

Meanwhile, incidents related to auxiliary battery fires have been occurring continuously. In July last year, a fire caused by an overheated auxiliary battery for a mobile phone at a residence resulted in damages amounting to about 40 million won.

Auxiliary batteries are devices that store and deliver electrical energy, providing convenience to people. However, these batteries can cause fires due to overheating, short circuits, or defects. Since fires on aircraft pose a direct threat to the lives and safety of passengers and crew, special caution is required.
