Aramark International CEO Cal Mittleman Visits Haenam, Expands Purchase of Haenam Agricultural and Marine Specialties
Successful Case of Supplying Haenam Local Food to Daehan Shipbuilding
Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 11th that Carl Mittleeman, CEO of Aramark International, visited on the 10th.
This visit was arranged to discuss future development plans following the successful establishment of a business agreement (MOU) signed last year between Haenam-gun, Aramark Co., Ltd., and Daehan Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. to promote the use of local agricultural, marine, and specialty products and mutual growth.
Aramark, headquartered in Philadelphia, USA, is a food service specialist company operating about 12,000 locations in the United States and expanding globally in 15 countries.
Since providing meals for the Olympic teams starting from the 1968 Mexico Olympics, Aramark has also provided food services for events such as the FIFA World Cup and the Asian Games, and operates over 350 food service locations in Korea, including Incheon Airport.

Through the business agreement signed in April last year, Aramark agreed to supply Haenam-grown rice and fresh agricultural products to the cafeteria of Daehan Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a company located in Haenam-gun, and has been steadily increasing the proportion of Haenam-sourced ingredients.
This visit was made following the visit of Kim Sung-eun, CEO of Aramark Korea, to Haenam in May, during which discussions were held to actively support the expansion of supply volume of Haenam local food and the revitalization of local agricultural product sales.
CEO Carl Mittleeman stated, “I was captivated by the excellent quality and safety of Haenam’s agricultural and marine products, and I hope to maintain a partnership with Haenam-gun and expand supply to other locations operated by Aramark,” adding, “Haenam-gun’s ESG policies align with Aramark’s goals of social contribution and ethical management, and I hope to create opportunities for joint growth between local governments and companies by addressing global challenges such as reducing carbon footprints.”
Taking advantage of CEO Carl Mittleeman’s visit, Haenam-gun will begin establishing a food ingredient supply system that meets international standards to supply Haenam’s excellent agricultural products not only domestically but also worldwide.
Additionally, based on recent experiences exporting Haenam rice to Kazakhstan, the United States, Canada, and Singapore, the county plans to focus on agricultural product exports by recruiting specialized personnel and exploring new business opportunities.
County Governor Myung Hyun-kwan emphasized, “Haenam-gun is playing the role of the agricultural capital by discovering future food sources, advancing production technologies, and establishing systematic supply chains while addressing changes such as climate change, carbon neutrality, and the expansion of eco-friendly agricultural and marine products,” and added, “We will ensure that Haenam’s excellent ingredients are perfectly supplied worldwide through Aramark’s global logistics system.”
