On the 11th, Koga Robotics announced that it signed a participation agreement for the 'Caregiving Robot Support Project to Reduce Caregiving Cost Burden' with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and the Robot Industry Promotion Agency. The caregiving robot support project is aimed at introducing caregiving and rehabilitation robots to 10 veterans welfare facilities under the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.
For the project, Koga Robotics will supply caregiving service robots. Meanwhile, Manentel will provide rehabilitation robots, and X-Cube will supply AI control systems. Participating companies plan to offer various robotic systems to modernize welfare facilities for veterans by the end of this year.
Koga Robotics introduced a next-generation service called the 'mobile caregiving robot capable of natural conversation.' In addition to simple transport robot services, it is equipped with generative AI technology and a natural language voice recognition engine. Once this service is implemented, the robot’s natural conversational service can support the psychological and emotional stability of residents in veterans welfare facilities. It will also be able to receive requests from patients with mobility difficulties, perform errands, and relay requests.
A representative from Koga Robotics stated, "We plan to apply AI autonomous driving technology and voice recognition technology capable of handling various requests in the future," adding, "We expect that the newly introduced caregiving robots will play a significant role in improving convenience for patients and medical staff as well as supporting rehabilitation life."
On the same day, Kang Jeong-ae, Minister of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, said, "We will actively expand the distribution of advanced AI and robots to systematically manage the health of national veterans and alleviate the caregiving burden on staff." Son Woong-hee, President of the Robot Industry Promotion Agency, said, "The supply of robots by leading domestic robot companies to veterans welfare facilities is an important step for industrial revitalization and social coexistence," and added, "We will strive to further strengthen such projects in the future."
