Middle-aged Couple Engages in Lewd Acts at Comic Cafe
When Reported, They Claim "We Took Off Clothes Because It Was Hot"
Many people visit comic cafes to read books. However, recently, a story has emerged about a business owner who witnessed customers engaging in sexual acts inside the comic cafe they operate.
On the 9th, a post titled "How much sexual activity by customers in a comic cafe should be tolerated?" was uploaded to an online community. The author, Mr. A, who identified himself as a self-employed comic cafe owner, began by saying, "The rainy season makes it wet and humid, which is annoying, but the sexual activity in the small rooms is driving me crazy. When I witness the acts, my heart races and my hands and feet tremble." The small rooms are spaces separately created in comic cafes or jjimjilbangs (Korean saunas), usually structured like rooms with curtains or doors.
Mr. A explained, "I removed all the privacy curtains in the small rooms because I didn’t want to be stressed, but they still engage in sexual acts. Minors might kiss out of curiosity, but I don’t understand why middle-aged and older people would have sex in a public place." He continued, "With minors, the situation can be resolved by kindly sending them away or calling their parents to explain and reprimand them. But when people who look like they are in their late 40s to early 50s take off their clothes and engage in oral sex where everyone can see, it drives me crazy."
Mr. A added, "It’s still unbelievable to me. The woman ran away, and only the man was handed over to the police. During the police investigation, the man gave ridiculous excuses like 'I took off my clothes because it was hot.' A customer sitting nearby also testified, and now I’m waiting for a call from the detective. This time, I won’t tolerate it and plan to take it to civil court as well." He also asked, "I wonder if other owners are experiencing similar difficulties. Running a business is really hard."
Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as, "Maybe they couldn’t afford a place to stay," "Aren’t they ashamed?" "There must be many kids in a comic cafe, and this is really inappropriate," "Report them for public indecency and sue them," "I couldn’t believe it, but this really happens," "They’re not animals, how can they have sex in a public place?" and "If they are middle-aged, it might be an affair."
Meanwhile, a similar complaint caused controversy last January. Mr. B, a part-time worker at a comic cafe who appeared on the YouTube channel 'Sseolplee,' said, "I get a little nervous when cleaning the small rooms," and added, "There are often traces of an 'unknown white liquid' left in the small rooms. Our store doesn’t sell any drinks like that (white liquid). It’s really nerve-wracking because you never know what it might be." In April of the same year, netizen C, also a comic cafe part-timer, lamented, "I saw a couple who looked like high school students having sex while I was working. Last time, I went into a small room to announce closing time and saw them stuck together like a boiled chicken. Every time that happens, I want to quit my job."
