"July is Property Tax Payment Month"... Seodaemun-gu Operates Tax Consultation Team to Resolve Inquiries

Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seong-heon) announced on the 10th that it will organize and operate a "Tax Consultation Team" from the 16th to the 31st of this month during the regular property tax payment period in July to provide tax consultation and payment convenience.

Through this, the goal is to respond kindly and promptly to residents' payment inquiries and to implement high-quality tax administration services.

Property tax is levied annually on June 1st on owners of houses, buildings, land, ships, etc., and is divided into payments in July and September. In July, half of the property tax on houses and taxes on buildings other than houses and ships are levied, followed by the remaining half of the property tax on houses and other land excluding house-associated land in September.

The scale of the July regular property tax levy in Seodaemun-gu this year is approximately 149,707 cases totaling about 43.5 billion KRW, and the district office will send out tax bills by the 13th of this month. If the payment deadline is missed, an initial late payment penalty of 3% will be charged the following month, and if the property tax amount is 450,000 KRW or more, additional late payment penalties (0.66% per month for up to 60 months) must be paid.

Property tax can be paid at nationwide commercial banks, NongHyup, Suhyup, Saemaeul Geumgo, and post offices. At convenience stores (CU, GS25, 7-Eleven, Ministop, By The Way), payment is possible 24 hours by credit card (only Woori BC, Samsung, Hyundai, Hana, and Lotte cards are accepted) or cash card (transfer fees apply except for Shinhan Bank).

Payments can also be made via the Seoul City internet tax payment system, ETax, or the smartphone app "Seoul City Tax Payment (STAX)" using bank account transfers or credit cards. For any inquiries related to property tax, residents can contact the Seodaemun-gu Office Property Tax Division for detailed guidance.
