[One Day Walk] Haeparang-gil Course 13 Where You Can Enjoy the Beautiful Scenery of Donghae

Course 13 of the Haeparang Trail, which starts from Pohang Yangpo Port and continues to Guryongpo Port, is a section where you can enjoy the beautiful sea scenery of the East Sea. Among the 50 courses stretching from Busan to Goseong in Gangwon Province, Course 13 is composed of the longest coastal path. With a total length of 19.9 km, it takes about 6 hours and 30 minutes, but the trail is well maintained, making it easy even for beginners to take on.

The starting point, Yangpo Port, hosts a live fish market every early morning. You can witness live fish auctions and find a variety of fresh seafood and other delicacies. Following the coast from Yangpo Port, you will come across Sinchang Gani Beach and Daejin Gani Beach. Gani beaches are temporary beaches that open only during the summer season and close afterward. Although smaller than regular beaches, their long shorelines make them ideal for a stroll.

Along the coastal road, about 10 km from the starting point, lies Mopo Port. It is popular among anglers and photographers. Although a small and cozy harbor, it is well-liked due to the variety of fish species caught seasonally, such as cuttlefish, flatfish, flounder, mackerel, rockfish, and red seabream. It has also become a well-known spot among photographers who come to capture sunsets, sunrises, and sea landscapes.

Course 13 is full of tourist attractions. Not far from Mopo Port is Jang-gil-ri Complex Fishing Park, also regarded as a sunrise viewing spot. It features the 170-meter Boritdol Bridge, which offers beautiful views of the sea, along with various scenic spots. At the end of Boritdol Bridge is the Boritdol stone, around which a legend has been passed down that seaweed grew abundantly, helping people get through the difficult "Boritgogae" period.

At the end point of the course, Guryongpo, you can experience various cultural tours. There is a Japanese residential district here. After the Korea-Japan Commercial Treaty was signed in 1883, Japanese people came to live in Joseon, and over 100-year-old Japanese houses remain. It is also a painful historical site where Japanese fishermen settled and exploited the fishing rights of Koreans. Nearby is the Guryongpo Modern History Museum, which is a great place to learn about the history around the 1920s.
