Kim Cheol-woo, Boseong County Governor, Announces Excellent Policy 'Boseong600'

At Gwangmyeong City Autonomy and Decentralization Forum

Positive Feedback and Consensus Drawn on Policies Centered on Residents

Kim Cheol-woo, former governor of Boseong County, Jeollanam-do, presented the excellent cases of local autonomy in Boseong County and proposed the direction for local governments and the vision of Boseong County at the 5th Gwangmyeong Local Autonomy Forum ‘Local Autonomy Arirang’ held at Ibex Studio in Gwangmyeong City on the 9th.


The Gwangmyeong Local Autonomy Forum is an event co-hosted by Gwangmyeong City and the Local Autonomy Local Government Council, attended by about 300 people including citizens, local government heads, and local autonomy experts, to share excellent cases of local autonomy by local governments and discuss local autonomy issues.

On this day, Boseong County’s project ‘Boseong600, Our Village We Cultivate’ was selected as an excellent policy and presented, receiving high praise and empathy on site for being a policy centered on the residents.


Governor Kim Cheol-woo started with a promotional video and greeting from Boseong County, introduced various ‘600 projects’ being carried out in Boseong County with examples, and actively explained the necessity of policies centered on residents and the direction local governments including Boseong County should take in the future.


‘Boseong600’ is a resident-led village cultivation project that started in 2020, which has grown beyond a village cultivation project into a unique brand policy of Boseong, and has been expanded and applied to all administrative areas of Boseong County such as ▲Anshim600, ▲Culture600, and ▲Welfare600, and is being benchmarked by Jeollanam-do and others.


Governor Kim Cheol-woo of Boseong County emphasized, “Only when local autonomy centered on residents is the foundation can healthy local autonomy be achieved,” and added, “Going forward, Boseong County will continue to strive to realize healthy policies where residents are the true owners along with the expansion of the ‘Boseong600 project.’”


In addition, Boseong County is making efforts for advanced communication and prompt administration through various channels such as ▲visits to livelihood sites, ▲establishment of a dedicated department for resident communication, ▲operation of communication channels with residents, and ▲activation of the Local Autonomy Council to strengthen communication with residents and promote practical policies that residents can feel, and is leading the discovery of new policies and initiatives.


Meanwhile, on this day, Boseong County encouraged participation in the Hometown Love Donation Program by providing information on how to participate and the benefits on site, and exhibited and promoted unique and attractive return gifts of Boseong such as Boseong green pork, cockles, green tea, green tea yakgwa, Ungchi Olbye rice nurungji, green tea soap, crafts, tourism, and services.
