'Elements of Crime' and 'Epidemic' Premiere in Korea for the First Time
CGV will hold a 'Lars von Trier Retrospective' at the Art House Theater 15 from the 10th to the 23rd. Twelve works by Lars von Trier, who is celebrating his 40th anniversary since debut, will be screened.
The lineup includes his feature debut The Element of Crime (1984), Epidemic (1987), Europa (1991), Breaking the Waves (1996), Idiots (1998), Dancer in the Dark (2000), Dogville (2003), Manderlay (2005), Antichrist (2009), Melancholia (2011), Nymphomaniac Director's Cut Volume 1 (2013), and Nymphomaniac Director's Cut Volume 2 (2013).
This is the first time that The Element of Crime and Epidemic are introduced in Korea. Except for the latest work, ten films will be screened in digitally remastered versions. Audiences can experience a more vivid and clear picture quality and sound for an intense cinematic experience.
Lars von Trier is a director known for expressing free and extreme imagination. He constantly created new things through destruction without being bound by rules.
Jeon Jeong-hyun, head of CGV's content programming team, said, "He is a director who always delivers fresh shocks with controversial works," adding, "We hope this will be an opportunity to revisit his body of work, completed with a sharp perspective and critical spirit toward modern society."
