Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization (President Kim Namil) announced on the 9th that, with the 2025 APEC Summit scheduled to be held in the Bomun Tourist Complex area of Gyeongju, it has launched an APEC Support Task Force (TF) consisting of five members, with Kim Ilgon, Head of the Management Development Headquarters, serving as the general director.
The Gyeongju APEC Summit is the largest international event hosted since the inauguration of the Yoon Sukyeol administration, and is expected to have a significant impact on the tourism industry, with over 6,000 officials, businesspeople, and journalists from 21 countries, including heads of state, visiting the region.
In particular, as the organization responsible for developing and operating Bomun Tourist Complex?the first and oldest designated tourist complex in Korea?Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization sees the upcoming Gyeongju APEC Summit, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of the designation of Bomun Tourist Complex, as a stepping stone for revitalizing tourism in Gyeongbuk.
Through the APEC Support Task Force, the organization plans to establish a close cooperative system with related agencies such as Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gyeongju City, improve various infrastructures for the summit, and promote detailed projects including the development and operation of APEC-related tourism products.
Kim Namil, President of Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization, expressed his commitment, stating, "We will do our best not only to ensure the successful hosting of APEC, but also to further solidify the status of Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gyeongju City as global tourist destinations."
