Gwangjin-gu Increases Eco-friendly Vehicle Purchase Subsidy from 500,000 to 1,000,000 Won

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is expanding its subsidy program to promote the spread of eco-friendly transportation methods that emit no harmful gases.

First, the purchase subsidy for eco-friendly vehicles (electric cars, hydrogen cars) has been increased from 500,000 KRW to 1,000,000 KRW. Even those who have already received the subsidy will be retroactively granted an additional 500,000 KRW.

Along with this, a new subsidy for electric two-wheelers has been introduced. New buyers will receive 600,000 KRW, with an additional 150,000 KRW provided if the vehicle is purchased for delivery purposes. Electric two-wheelers are expected to improve air quality by emitting less exhaust and noise compared to internal combustion engines.

The eligible applicants are individuals, sole proprietors, foreigners, and corporations who have resided in Gwangjin-gu for more than 90 days as of the application date. Support is available for those who newly purchase and register electric cars, hydrogen cars, or electric two-wheelers on or after January 1, 2024.

Applications can be submitted in person or by mail to the Environmental Division of Gwangjin-gu Office with the required documents. Applications will be accepted until December 6, and support will continue until the budget is exhausted.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, stated, “We aim to contribute to improving air quality and reducing greenhouse gases by promoting the distribution of eco-friendly transportation. We will accelerate efforts to practice carbon neutrality to leave a clean and safe environment for future generations.”
