Soonchunhyang University Wins Grand Prize at the 18th International University Student Musical Festival The Department of Performing Arts and Film at Soonchunhyang University swept the Grand Prize, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award, and the Best Actress Award at the 18th Daegu International Musical Festival (DIMF).

The Department of Performing Arts and Visual Media at Soonchunhyang University swept the Grand Prize, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award, and the Best Actress Award at the 18th Daegu International Musical Festival (DIMF).


At the DIMF Awards and Closing Ceremony held on the 8th, over 20 teams competed in the preliminaries, and nine universities from Korea and abroad, including Soonchunhyang University, Chung-Ang University, Dankook University, Keimyung University, Kyungsung University, Baekseok University, Chungwoon University, Daegu Science University, and Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts, participated in the finals.


'42nd Street on Broadway' by Soonchunhyang University, which won the Grand Prize, was so popular that it was sold out for all seats during this year's festival. In particular, Lee Yeojoon, who played the lead role of Peggy Sawyer, won the Best Actress Award, signaling the birth of a new star.


Won Jongwon, Dean of SCH Media Labs at Soonchunhyang University, said, "I am truly grateful to our students and professors who prepared and staged such a wonderful production," and added, "We will continue to spare no effort and support to become a department that leads the Korean musical scene."
