756 Households Achieve Over 5% Energy Savings
16 Million Won Awarded ... Applications Open Year-Round
Sancheong County in Gyeongnam announced on the 9th that it has distributed 16 million won in incentives through the Carbon Neutrality Point System. The recipients are 756 households that participated in the energy sector and reduced their electricity, water, or city gas usage by more than 5% in the second half of last year.
Previously, Sancheong County had received applications from 3,635 households for participation in the Carbon Neutrality Point System for the second half of last year. Among them, 756 households reduced their energy consumption (510,000 kWh of electricity, 1,117 m³ of water, and 289 m³ of city gas), resulting in a reduction of 246 tons of greenhouse gases. Of these 756 households, 344 received incentives of 30,000 won or more, and 17 households received incentives of 60,000 won or more.
The county provides incentives twice a year (in June and December) based on the reduction rate if households and commercial facilities reduce their electricity, water, or city gas usage by more than 5% compared to the average usage over the past two years. Participation is open year-round through the Carbon Neutrality Point System website or at local town offices.
A county official stated, "The participation of residents is crucial for reducing greenhouse gas emissions," and added, "We hope many will join the Carbon Neutrality Point System, which not only helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions in response to the climate crisis but also offers incentives."
