Police plan to focus investigation on abuse allegations

Four stray cats were found dead in an apartment complex in Incheon, prompting the police to launch an investigation.

According to the police on the 7th, a report was made to 112 on the 4th at around 4 p.m. that four dead stray cats were found behind a building in an apartment complex in Guwol-dong, Namdong-gu. Among the four cats, one was found with a severed leg, while the other three were relatively intact.

Residents who usually fed and cared for these cats said, "We have been taking care of the cats for over 10 years, but this is the first time we have seen four cats dead at the same time." They added, "Seeing the mutilated bodies, it seems someone intentionally killed them, so we reported it." They also stated, "At the end of May, another healthy cat was found dead, and on the 29th of last month, someone damaged the cat feeding station made of plastic boxes. Two months ago, a resident threatened, saying 'I will kill the cats and the people who feed them, so be careful,' which makes us strongly suspect that someone deliberately killed them."

The police, upon receiving the report, requested a necropsy of the bodies from the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency to determine the cause of death. They also plan to check nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and conduct inquiries to investigate whether the cats were abused.
