Kim Youngcheol, Chief of the Changwon Maritime Police Station in Gyeongnam, participated in the 'SOS Rescue Button Pressing' challenge hosted by the Korea Coast Guard on the 4th.

The SOS Rescue Button Pressing campaign is being promoted to raise awareness about the importance of sending SOS rescue signals from vessels such as fishing boats and wearing life jackets.

This campaign involves the general public, including the maritime police, maritime and fisheries officials, and fishermen, all participating while wearing life jackets. The campaign is carried out in a relay format, where each participant designates two next participants.

Previously, after being designated by Lim Gusu, Head of the Busan Regional Headquarters of the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives, Chief Kim wore a life jacket on the 4th and encouraged participation in the campaign.

He designated Yang Dongyeop, Chief of the Masan Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries, and Park Hanwoong, President of the Masan Pilots Association, as the next participants.

Chief Kim said, "I hope many people will help spread the word about this challenge and participate so that fishermen can quickly send rescue signals and be rescued in emergency situations."

He added, "I urge everyone who visits the sea to always wear a life jacket, which is like a safety belt for the ocean, and to stay safe."
