Gwangju Buk-gu Council Completes Organization of the 9th Term Second Half

The Buk-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City has completed the formation of the 9th term's second half leadership.

On the 4th, at the 2nd plenary session of the 295th extraordinary meeting, the Buk-gu Council appointed standing committee members and elected committee chairpersons. The standing committee chairpersons elected were Go Young-im as Chairperson of the Council Operation Committee, Han Yang-im as Chairperson of the Administration and Autonomy Committee, Kim Gwi-seong as Chairperson of the Economic Welfare Committee, and Lee Sook-hee as Chairperson of the Safety and City Committee. For the first time since its establishment, all chairpersons are women.

The standing committee members appointed were: for the Council Operation Committee, Choi Ki-young, Jeon Mi-yong, Son Hye-jin, Hwang Ye-won, Jeong Dal-seong, and Shin Jeong-hoon; for the Administration and Autonomy Committee, Kim Young-soon, Kim Hyung-soo, Im Jong-guk, Go Young-im, and Son Hye-jin; for the Economic Welfare Committee, Choi Ki-young, Ki Dae-seo, Jeon Mi-yong, Jeong Sang-yong, Jeong Dal-seong, and Jeong Jae-seong; and for the Safety and City Committee, Joo Soon-il, Kim Geon-an, Kang Seong-hoon, Hwang Ye-won, and Shin Jeong-hoon.

The standing committee chairpersons collectively stated, “We will fulfill our duties to further strengthen the council’s fundamental roles of oversight and monitoring,” and added, “We will also carefully and sharply review to ensure that administration and budgets are being properly managed.”

The Buk-gu Council will open the 296th extraordinary meeting on the 10th to begin the second half of its legislative activities in earnest, including listening to reports on major business progress and handling ordinance proposals.
