Kyungnam University Signs Agreement with KOFST Gyeongnam Regional Association to Promote Glocal University Initiative

Accelerating the Realization of Digital Transformation

Gyeongnam University, which is accelerating its efforts to be officially designated as a Glocal University based on close cooperation with local businesses and institutions, has signed a business agreement with the Gyeongnam Regional Association of the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies (KOFST).

On the 3rd, both organizations agreed that in order to lead the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry, which is a key sector in Gyeongnam, and the Changwon National Industrial Complex through 'Super-large Manufacturing AI,' and to promote Gyeongnam University's Glocal University 30 and RISE projects, it is essential to build an excellent infrastructure and close cooperation system with the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies, which represents the private science and technology sector in Korea.

To this end, they pledged to establish and support an organic collaborative system for the university aspiring to become a Glocal University, including sharing and cooperation, advancement of regional industrial research, nurturing digital talent, and holding industry-academia collaboration seminars and workshops.

Hong Junghyo, Vice President for External Affairs, stated, "In order to secure and develop the core technologies for 'Super-large Manufacturing AI,' which is at the heart of the digital transformation of the Changwon National Industrial Complex and the Glocal University project, the support of the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies, which has led the future of science and technology in Korea and the region, is essential," adding, "We will strive for mutual development through continued exchange and cooperation with the Gyeongnam Regional Association."

Lee Yongtae, Chairman of the KOFST Gyeongnam Regional Association, said, "Gyeongnam University has contributed to the development of the regional science and technology sector by nurturing outstanding talent and, more recently, by leading the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry through Super-large Manufacturing AI," adding, "We will actively utilize the excellent infrastructure possessed by KOFST to continue our cooperation."
