Changwon Special City Holds Meeting to Review Progress on First Half-Year Pledges

Mayor Hong Nampyo Urges Swift Project Implementation

Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, announced on the 3rd that it held the "2024 First Half-Year Pledge Implementation Status Review Meeting" at the mayor's office, presided over by Mayor Hong Nam-pyo.


At the end of May, the city completed a first review of projects requiring a reset of direction and goals during a pledge review meeting led by the first and second deputy mayors, aiming to thoroughly implement the 72 pledge projects of the 8th popularly elected administration. Afterwards, each project department prepared measures to enhance practicality and effectiveness.


This meeting focused on intensively reviewing the efficiency and validity of the proposed measures and redefining the specific direction for project implementation. It was conducted in a small group discussion format.

The main projects reviewed included: ▲ Establishment of a Changwon-style industrial ecosystem favorable for businesses ▲ Promotion of a connecting road between the old downtown of Jinhae and the Guisan area of Changwon ▲ Construction of a K-Culture Education Center ▲ Creation of a multipurpose comprehensive sports center, among others.


Based on the results of this review meeting, the city plans to hold a Citizen Pledge Evaluation Committee meeting to review changes to pledges in July, and to concentrate administrative efforts on implementing the revised action plans from the second half of the year.


Mayor Hong requested that, in order to maximize the perceived effects of pledge projects for citizens, the city should increase the synergy of project outcomes by linking with existing projects and push forward with a sense of speed.


Meanwhile, as of the second quarter of 2024, the city's pledge implementation rate stands at 48%, with 13 pledges completed or being continuously pursued after implementation. The remaining 59 projects are also being steadily promoted, with quarterly reviews and evaluations of pledge implementation status.
