Sinan Police Station, Celebrates 1st Anniversary of Protecting Security in Island Areas

Lee Eul-shin Chief Expresses Commitment to Achievements and Future Roles

It has already been one year since the Shinan Police Station, a long-cherished wish of the residents of Shinan County, was established on July 3rd last year.

Lee Eul-shin, Chief of Shinan Police Station, expressed meaningful achievements and his commitment to future roles on the occasion of the station's first anniversary.

Chief Lee explained, “Shinan County was separated from Muan County in 1969 and was previously under the jurisdiction of the nearby Mokpo Police Station. However, with the establishment of Shinan Police Station, we have been able to provide customized policing services tailored to the unique characteristics of the island region.”

He stated, “Over the past year, Shinan Police Station received 5,009 emergency 112 calls, handling an average of 13.7 cases daily, and resolved 183 major crimes among the top five categories.”

He added, “As a result of our dedicated efforts to protect the safety and daily peace of the residents, Shinan Police Station ranked first in perceived safety among 22 police stations in Jeollanam-do in 2023 and received a group commendation from the Jeollanam-do Police Agency. Moving forward, Shinan Police Station will focus more on preventing malicious voice phishing crimes, drunk driving, and traffic accidents involving the elderly.”

In particular, he said, “We will strengthen cooperation with the private sector and promote community policing activities through platforms for resident communication and information sharing to eliminate blind spots in policing in the island areas.”

Chief Lee Eul-shin emphasized, “This place, born from the aspirations of the residents of Shinan County who created the Shinan Police Station, represents a new challenge for the safety and prosperity of our region. The members of Shinan Police are committed to doing their best for the local community and residents.”

He added, “We ask for the continued cooperation and interest of the local community, and Shinan Police Station will continuously strive to develop further and create a safer region together with the residents.”
