Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam conducted a joint safety inspection with private experts on water play facilities for children, which are closely related to citizens' daily lives amid the onset of intense heat.
The inspection, carried out from June 19 to July 3, covered 19 water play facilities for children in the city. The inspection focused on whether safety inspections and mandatory safety measures were conducted before operation, whether safety personnel were properly assigned and qualified, whether water quality and management standards for water play facilities were met, and the safety status of measures to prevent slipping and falling.
Through this inspection, any issues that could be corrected immediately were addressed on site, and compliance with facility management standards for children's play facilities will continue to be monitored.
Jang Geumyong, the First Deputy Mayor, said, "We will do our best to thoroughly manage the facilities to provide a cool and safe water play space so that children can enjoy a pleasant summer."
Meanwhile, this year's water play facilities will operate for 52 days from July 5 to August 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. During the peak season, from July 27 to August 11, operating hours on Saturdays and Sundays will be extended to 5:30 p.m. However, the facilities will be closed every Monday for inspection and cleaning.
