The Korea Rail Network Authority announced on the 3rd that it will hold a public contest for the 'Railway Land Private Proposal Development Project' to discover region-customized business models for the idle sites of the old Andong Station located in Beophung-dong, Andong-si, Gyeongbuk (73,739.1㎡) and the idle site of Gimcheon-Gumi Station located in Oksan-ri, Nam-myeon, Gimcheon-si, Gyeongbuk (10,929㎡).
The Rail Network Authority will conduct the contest with development directions reflecting the needs and characteristics of each site: for the old Andong Station, establishing a region-specialized tourism facility in Andong-si, and for Gimcheon-Gumi Station, creating neighborhood living facilities and parking lots to revitalize the station area.
The contest period is from July 3 to September 2. Proposal submissions must be received by 3 PM on the closing date. Eligible participants are single corporations or consortiums capable of executing the project.
Further detailed information regarding the contest can be found on the Rail Network Authority's website.
Lee Seong-hae, Chairman of the Rail Network Authority, stated, “By newly developing idle railway land reflecting regional characteristics, we hope to provide spaces desired by local residents and create a win-win opportunity where the added value generated from the development project is reinvested into railway facilities.”
