KB Kookmin Bank announced on the 3rd that it has launched the Smart Pass service using facial recognition technology on the KB Star Banking app.
Smart Pass is a service that allows users to quickly pass through the departure hall and boarding gate at Incheon International Airport using only facial recognition, without the need for a passport or boarding pass, by pre-registering facial and passport information. Previously, this was only possible through the Smart Pass app of Incheon International Airport Corporation, but since May, following a business agreement between KB Kookmin Bank and Incheon International Airport Corporation, the Smart Pass service has become available on KB Star Banking, the first private app to offer it.
Users simply need to pre-register their facial and passport information in the KB Star Banking National Wallet. The service's safety has been further enhanced by enabling real-time facial information matching and family relationship verification using electronic certificates when registering children for Smart Pass.
A KB Kookmin Bank official stated, "We will continue to expand services across various fields, from finance to daily life, based on cooperation with Incheon International Airport Corporation and other institutions, and develop new lifestyle finance models."
