BTS Jin to Run as Torchbearer for Paris Olympic Flame Relay

Jin (Kim Seokjin), the eldest member of the group BTS, will participate as a torchbearer for the '2024 Paris Summer Olympics' torch relay.

According to the music industry on the 2nd, Jin will be one of the torchbearers participating in the Olympic torch relay, which opens in Paris on the 26th (local time). About 10,000 people, including celebrities, are participating in this Paris Olympic torch relay. The torch, which was lit on April 16 at the Hera Temple in Olympia, Greece, the birthplace of the ancient Olympics, has been relayed to over 60 regions across France starting from Marseille on May 8.


The first torchbearer in France was swimmer Florent Manaudou. During the recent Cannes International Film Festival, figures from the arts such as actress Halle Berry and festival director Thierry Fr?maux participated in the torch relay, enhancing the festive atmosphere.


In addition, various professions including sports stars like football legend Didier Drogba, sanitation workers, and astronauts are participating to continue the Olympic enthusiasm.


The reason Jin is participating in this torch relay is believed to be influenced by the global popularity of BTS, a group with overwhelming recognition loved evenly worldwide, along with their message emphasizing love and peace over the past decade.


The specific location and schedule of Jin’s torch relay have not been disclosed yet. It is known that Jin will soon depart for France to participate in the torch relay.


Jin, who was the first among BTS members to be discharged from military service on the 12th of last month, immediately began his comeback activities starting with a fan meeting on the 13th, the 11th anniversary of the team’s debut. Currently preparing new songs, Jin has also announced various activities, including appearing as a guest on MBC TV variety show 'It’s Okay to Take a Break.'
