Sacheon Mayor Park Dongsik Shares Achievements of Two Years in Eighth Elected Term

2nd Anniversary Ceremony of the 8th Elected Term Held
City Presents Administrative Vision for the Next Two Years

Sacheon City in Gyeongnam held a ceremony commemorating the second anniversary of the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration at 9 a.m. on the 1st at the Sacheon City Hall Grand Auditorium, with all employees in attendance.

The event proceeded in the following order: national pledge, awards for meritorious citizens and public officials, presentation of congratulatory bouquets, viewing of a city promotional video, commemorative address, group photo, and visits to major facilities and business sites.

In his commemorative address, Mayor Park Dongsik shared the achievements made over the past two years in various fields, including economic development, industrial infrastructure, residential conditions, tourism industry, and citizen participation, since the launch of the 8th administration.

Sacheon City is holding a ceremony to commemorate the 2nd anniversary of the launch of the 8th term of the elected administration.

Among these, the most outstanding was the historic event on May 27, when the opening of the Space and Aerospace Agency instantly elevated Sacheon to the status of the aerospace capital of Korea.

Additionally, laying the foundation as an aerospace capital and improving regional balanced development and residential conditions were also significant achievements. Immediately after taking office, every citizen received 300,000 won in emergency disaster relief funds, and the issuance of the Sacheon Love Gift Certificate greatly contributed to revitalizing the local economy.

The city also established a foundation for a stay-type marine tourism city and expanded citizen participation in municipal administration. Last year, Sacheon was the only city in Gyeongnam to receive a first-class rating in the public institution integrity assessment, thereby achieving transparent administration.

On this day, Mayor Park presented seven visions to guide municipal administration for the next two years, aiming to enhance the status as the aerospace capital and complete the transformation into a stay-type marine tourism city.

First, the city will prioritize building an aerospace complex city and make every effort to revive local commercial districts and the livelihood economy. In addition, by forming a consultative body with the Space and Aerospace Agency, Sacheon will expand the aerospace industry ecosystem and actively work to upgrade metropolitan transportation networks for the city's growth as a premium city.

Furthermore, the city plans to improve residential conditions to meet residents' expectations and expand tourism infrastructure to firmly establish itself as a stay-type marine tourism city. Finally, by reaching a budget scale of 1 trillion won, Sacheon will secure new growth engines for the future. Achieving the initial 1 trillion won budget will support the construction of a "New Beginning, Happy City Sacheon" under the 8th administration.

The city will strive for the early sale and operation of the Sacheon IC Complex Distribution Industry District and promote the designation of the Gyeongnam Aviation National Industrial Complex as an Investment Promotion Zone to create a business-friendly environment.

Efforts will also be made for the early development of the Western General Industrial Complex to create jobs and supply industrial land in the western region, with plans to actively discover future growth engines by supporting the satellite industry, space venture companies, and future air mobility.

Mayor Park stated, "We will build a future city for 250,000 people and transform Sacheon into a small but strong city that competes not only in Korea but also globally." He added, "With the strength that brought the Space and Aerospace Agency to Sacheon, let's work together to create a city where citizens are happy and it is a great place to raise children."

After the ceremony, Mayor Park visited Namyangyang Welfare Center, held a meeting with facility users and staff to listen to their difficulties, and had a time for communication. Later, at Jungang Daycare Center, Mayor Park encouraged the dreams of the growing future generation and listened to the concerns of childcare teachers, making it a meaningful occasion.

He also visited four major business sites: Yongdang (Aviation MRO) General Industrial Complex, Gyeongnam Aviation National Industrial Complex Sacheon District, Changwon National University Sacheon Aerospace Campus site, and Cheongneol District Stormwater Retention Facility. At each site, he received reports on construction progress and checked measures for major risk factors. This field visit was planned according to Mayor Park Dongsik's belief that "the answer is on site."

Mayor Park emphasized, "This month, there are concerns about major damages from summer disasters such as heatwaves and heavy rains. Please ensure thorough safety management for workers and let's realize administration that puts safety first."
