TMAP Trending Restaurant Rankings: Sokcho Edition
Singer Sung Si-kyung's mention of a restaurant on his YouTube channel has led to a more than 200-fold increase in visitors within a month.
According to 'TMAP Rapidly Rising Restaurant Rankings - Sokcho Edition' recently released by TMAP Mobility, the restaurant with the highest increase in visitors compared to the previous month was selected as '○○ Restaurant.' Based on TMAP driving data, the number of times this restaurant was set as a destination was only 85 from April 18 to May 17, but it surged to 17,855 from May 18 to June 17. This represents a vertical increase of over 200 times in just one month.
This occurred after singer Sung Si-kyung introduced the restaurant on his YouTube channel. On May 22, Sung Si-kyung featured the restaurant on his YouTube show 'Sung Si-kyung's Mukultende,' and as of July 1, the video has recorded 1.62 million views. It is known that whenever Sung Si-kyung introduces a restaurant on YouTube, crowds immediately gather, resulting in long waiting lines. In this regard, Sung Si-kyung revealed on a tvN variety show last year that "fans say they hear a lot of curses when they line up at the restaurant. They ask, 'What is this because of Sung Si-kyung?'" indicating that regular customers sometimes resent him.
The influence of Sung Si-kyung was confirmed through data from TMAP Mobility, which introduces useful content such as popular restaurants based on user navigation. Besides the restaurant mentioned by Sung Si-kyung, other places such as ○○○ Mulhoe (12,560 cases), ○○ Dakgangjeong (7,214 cases), ○○○○○ Mulhoe (5,557 cases), and Sokcho Ojingeo Hanjeon ○ho (1,458 cases) also recorded significant increases, following closely behind.
TMAP Mobility continues to strengthen its data-driven content by biweekly introducing rapidly rising restaurants in various cities beyond Sokcho. They provide diverse themed content such as beautiful scenic spots in Korea, the top 9 naengmyeon (cold noodle) restaurants nationwide, and collections of Starbucks stores with special photo spots.
