Aiming to publicize pension reform and build consensus with future generations
"Expecting consensus formation and positive perception spread on pension reform"
The National Pension Service (NPS) announced that it will hold the "1st NPS Forum" at its headquarters in Jeonju, Jeonbuk, from July 3 to 5, aiming to promote public discussion on pension reform and regional coexistence.
This NPS Forum is organized to realize a "pension for all to enjoy coexistence," with the purpose of fostering an atmosphere for public discourse on pension reform through academic exchanges and policy discussions with domestic expert groups. In particular, it seeks to widely raise awareness of the necessity of pension reform by building consensus with future generations.
The forum consists of various professional academic conferences, a joint seminar of the seven social insurance research councils, and seminars related to the NPS’s future projects. The Korean Association of Social Welfare, Korean Association of Pension Studies, Korean Association of Social Policy, Korean Association of Social Security, Korean Academic Society of Business Administration, Korean Securities Association, and Korean Financial Management Association will participate to engage in active discussions. Additionally, special events for future contributors and youth job counseling booths and cultural performances sponsored by Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province will also be held.
Notably, the forum will feature presentations and discussions by experts in fields on topics such as "Exploring the Sustainability of Systems and Funds by Social Insurance Schemes" and "The Meaning and Prospects of Public Discourse on Pension Reform." It will provide a platform to share academic opinions on policy issues including domestic and international fund challenges and to gather opinions from younger generations.
Detailed information about the forum and participation methods can be found on the National Pension Service Research Institute website or via the QR code.
Kwon Moon-il, Director of the National Pension Research Institute, stated, “Pension reform is an urgent task that must be accomplished to protect the retirement of the youth, elderly, and future generations,” adding, “Through this forum, we hope to share academic opinions on pension reform and funds, create a communication platform with the MZ generation, and foster consensus and positive awareness about pension reform.”
