Dropping Off at Opposite Bus Stop and Even Asking a Fellow Driver for Help

A heartwarming story has been shared about a bus driver who deliberately stopped the bus and contacted a fellow driver to help a young passenger who got lost after boarding the wrong bus, ensuring the child returned safely.

On the 29th of last month, a post titled "Thank you to the kind bus driver" was uploaded on the online community 'Bobaedream' along with photos. The author, Mr. A, began by recounting an incident that happened around 6 p.m. on the 2323 intercity bus traveling from Hopyeong-dong, Namyangju-si to Jamsil Station.

Mr. A said, "When the bus entered the Suseok-Hopyeong private highway, a young child who appeared to be in early elementary school asked the bus driver, 'Where is this bus going?'" Upon being told it was the bus to Jamsil, the child became flustered, saying, "I need to go to (Namyangju) Pyeongnae, but I got on the wrong bus."

The bus was an express intercity bus that went non-stop to Jamsil. However, feeling sorry for the child's situation, the bus driver stopped at the Suseok-dong Entrance stop and let the child off. Then, he called a fellow 2323 bus driver coming from the opposite direction, explained the situation, and asked him to take the child back to Pyeongnae.

Mr. A wrote, "It might seem like a small thing, but it was heartwarming even if just for a moment. The little boy was so flustered that he couldn't thank the bus driver before leaving. I want to thank the driver on behalf of the child."

When some netizens expressed safety concerns, Mr. A added, "The bus stop was right across the street in the opposite direction. The driver explained to the child how to cross the street and told him to wait until the bus from the opposite side arrived. The child understood everything well, so it was not a particularly dangerous situation."

Later, a fellow driver who received the child passenger from the bus driver commented, "Since there were no vehicles entering Hopyeong-dong at that time and the dispatch interval was long, I was told to pick up the child. The child was safely dropped off. Although it’s not my story, it feels good," leaving a positive remark.

Netizens responded with comments such as "A small act of kindness that the child will never forget," "Moved by the thoughtfulness," "Thank you, driver," and "May the driver be blessed."
