Gwangju Seo-gu Council Elects Jeon Seung-il as Chairperson for the 9th Term Second Half

On the 1st at 10 a.m., the Gwangju Seo-gu Council held the 1st plenary session of the 323rd extraordinary meeting in the main chamber on the 2nd floor of the Seo-gu Council building, announcing that Jeon Seung-il was unanimously elected by 13 council members as the chairman of the 9th Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council's second half, and Baek Jong-han was elected as the vice chairman.

Chairman Jeon Seung-il is a re-elected council member representing electoral district Ga (Yangdong, Yang 3-dong, Nongsung 1 and 2-dong, Hwajeong 1 and 2-dong) and previously served as the chairman of the Social and Urban Committee during the first half of both the 8th and 9th Seo-gu Councils.

Vice Chairman Baek Jong-han (electoral district Da, Hwajeong 3 and 4-dong, Pungam-dong) is also a re-elected council member who will assist Chairman Jeon Seung-il in leading the second half of the 9th Seo-gu Council for two years.

In his policy statement, Chairman Jeon Seung-il declared five key promises to focus on as the chairman of the 9th Seo-gu Council's second half: ▲ Establishing a channel to broadcast each meeting in real time ▲ Operating a strong and systematic council secretariat ▲ Creating a new council civil complaint communication team to be closer to residents ▲ Promoting workshops to enhance communication and capabilities among council members and staff ▲ Implementing the council members' code of ethics to build a respected and trusted council.

Furthermore, Chairman Jeon stated that, in line with the era of Local Autonomy 2.0, he will build a local council that meets residents' needs through change and innovation and realize true local autonomy.

Meanwhile, the composition of the standing committees and the election of standing committee chairpersons for the second half of the 9th Seo-gu Council are scheduled to be decided at 10 a.m. on the 2nd in the main chamber on the 2nd floor of the Seo-gu Council building.
