Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) is recruiting participants for the ‘Big Data Analysis and Utilization Fellowship’ to share big data and discover ideas that can be utilized in policies to improve the convenience of residents' lives.

The ‘Big Data Analysis and Utilization Fellowship’ is a participatory contest that provides research funding and expert consultation to ensure smooth research by carrying out big data analysis projects related to Seongdong-gu and sharing the results.

The district is promoting this contest to discover big data analysis projects that residents can directly experience through data-driven administration activation and participatory data analysis, and to derive creative ideas.

Researchers select and proceed with one of two topics designated by Seongdong-gu or a free topic. The designated topics by Seongdong-gu are ▲ Time series analysis of population movement by travel purpose in Seongdong-gu and ▲ Commercial area analysis of Seongsu-dong using sales data.

The district expects that by providing necessary resources for research to quasi-data analysts participating in this big data analysis and utilization, excellent analysis cases will be discovered, creating a virtuous cycle of data utilization.

The project participants are graduate students or quasi-data analysts and can be composed of individuals or teams. Participants will be recruited until July 5, and 3 to 4 selected teams will be active until November.

The submission form can be downloaded from the news section of the Seongdong-gu Office website, and applications should be submitted via email to the person in charge.

Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “We will strive to provide opportunities to efficiently utilize the rapidly increasing big data to objectively and scientifically solve urban and social problems and to enhance the convenience of residents.”
