Composed of 23 Experts in the Environmental Field
On the 28th, Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 30th that it held the "1st Yongin City 2050 Carbon Neutral Green Growth Committee" meeting at the city hall annex conference room. The committee is composed of 23 experts from various fields including environment, renewable energy, architecture, forestry, and transportation, and officially began its activities with this first meeting.
The committee's roles include ▲setting the basic policy directions for transitioning to a carbon-neutral society and promoting green growth ▲establishing regional visions and reduction targets according to the city's vision ▲formulating and revising the regional carbon neutrality and green growth master plan ▲overall coordination and deliberation for policy implementation.
Lee Sang-il, mayor of Yongin City and co-chairman of the committee, said, "Responding to climate change is a global challenge that everyone must strive to solve," adding, "I hope the valuable opinions and wisdom presented by the experts will lead to activities addressing climate change."
At the meeting, the committee deliberated on the "3rd Climate Crisis Adaptation Measures." The climate crisis adaptation measures are plans established every five years aimed at strengthening climate change adaptation capacity and resilience. The plan includes 39 detailed projects across six sectors?▲health ▲agriculture and livestock ▲forest ecosystems ▲disasters and accidents ▲water management ▲implementation foundation?to proactively prepare for uncertain climate change.
The city plans to submit the adaptation measures approved by the committee to the Ministry of Environment.
