Jeong Ga-eun Mentions Missing Ex-Husband... "Involved in Fraud? I Am Innocent"

Jung Clarifies Alleged Fake Divorce on YouTube
"Regrets Ignoring Advice from Friends to Avoid Making a Statement"

Broadcaster Jung Ga-eun shared her feelings regarding suspicions of her ex-husband's involvement in fraud, seven years after their divorce.

On the 27th, a post titled "Unbelievable! How far does Namuwiki go?" was uploaded on the YouTube channel 'Jung Ga-eun's Nolgoitne'. In the 25-minute and 20-second video, Jung checked her profile published on Namuwiki one by one. She debuted as a model in 1997 and began her full-fledged activities after winning the Miss Korea Gyeongnam runner-up title in 2001. She reminisced while looking at descriptions of her past, when she was nicknamed the "8-heads-tall Song Hye-kyo."

Next, Jung cautiously began to talk about the situation at the time of her divorce in 2017, calling it an "unfinished story." She married a businessman in 2016 but divorced in 2018, two years after marriage, as her ex-husband was accused of fraud involving 13.2 billion KRW. Their only daughter is being raised by Jung.

Recalling the situation, Jung said, "What I regret the most is that when this incident broke out, I wish I had quickly made my position known to people. At that time, there was someone beside me who told me, 'You shouldn't do this,' and 'Do this, do that,' but that person told me, 'Don't say anything and keep your mouth shut.'" She continued, "'No matter what you say, the fact will be exaggerated or not believed.' At that time, I was very scared. People who were harmed by my ex-husband also contacted me. So I changed my phone number and tried to block my eyes and ears and not see anything," adding, "I don't know if that was a wise action, but now I wonder what would have happened if I had answered all those calls and explained my position."

She also clarified suspicions of a fake divorce. Jung said, "Since I had a child, I had to meet (my ex-husband) for the child's sake. But that person barely met me once a month even when I begged him." She added, "I divorced because I didn't get along with him, but there was no reason to take away the existence of a father from the child. Also, at that time, I didn't even know he was such a bad person." She expressed her frustration, saying, "They said 'the two of us went to someone's wedding.' I took the baby and went together."

Jung Ga-eun said, "I went to the police station and underwent all the investigations, submitted all the materials. Those who believed me believed me. I was truly innocent." She continued, "Even after that, I received many broadcasting offers, which I think means many people trusted me and believed that I could not have been involved with that person." She emphasized again, "I was never involved. You can trust me," and added, "I hope my child will never be hurt by this matter again. I don't want to bring this up again."

Meanwhile, Jung filed a complaint against her ex-husband in December 2019 for violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes and fraud. It is known that her ex-husband concealed his previous conviction for fraud before their marriage. He is also accused of embezzling about 13.2 billion KRW using bank accounts and reputation under Jung's name after their marriage. Her ex-husband fled overseas and is currently missing.
