The targets for the cleanup are items on the roads that spoil the cityscape and cause inconvenience to residents, such as flower pots, traffic cones, and discarded tires.

In areas vulnerable to urban deterioration due to illegal roadside clutter within the district, voluntary cleanup will be encouraged. Additionally, strong crackdowns, including forced removal, will be conducted against chronic illegal road occupation.

In particular, efforts will focus on educating and promoting the removal of illegal street vendors and the placement of goods in front of stores that obstruct pedestrian traffic to improve the walking environment.

Im Taek, the head of Dong-gu Office, stated, "The proliferation of clutter on roads and sidewalks has infringed on pedestrian rights and increased the risk of safety accidents, raising the need for cleanup continuously. We will create a pleasant walking path through strong crackdowns and cleanup activities to build an ‘environmentally friendly city where people want to walk.’"

Meanwhile, last year, Dong-gu conducted 1,265 crackdowns and forced removals related to illegal street vending and roadside clutter.
