Nation's First Dedicated 'Jungnang Companion Shelter' for People with Kidney Disabilities Opens

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) has established the nation’s first dedicated shelter for individuals with kidney disabilities, the ‘Jungnang Donghaeng Shelter,’ and held an opening ceremony on the 27th.


The Jungnang Donghaeng Shelter, located near Sangbong Station, spans a total area of 88.66㎡ and is equipped with various spaces including a program room, counseling room, and lounge.


The district plans to provide a comfortable self-help meeting space here where individuals with kidney disabilities can exchange information and foster camaraderie.


Additionally, a variety of educational and cultural programs will be offered, including ▲health management education ▲organ donation awareness education ▲soap and leather crafts ▲healing massage, among others.


Furthermore, integrated vocational rehabilitation support programs such as job counseling and employment placement will be conducted to actively support the social advancement of individuals with kidney disabilities.


The district expects that the establishment of this dedicated shelter to encourage leisure activities and social participation for people with kidney disabilities will further enhance their welfare within the community.


Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, “I hope that individuals with kidney disabilities can enjoy healthy social activities as well as cultural and leisure life in the safe and comfortable Jungnang Donghaeng Shelter,” adding, “We will spare no effort in providing multifaceted and proactive support for the happy lives of people with kidney disabilities.”
