Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated on the 26th (local time) that Russia will not tolerate the South Korean government's mention of support for Ukraine in relation to the comprehensive strategic partnership treaty concluded between Russia and North Korea.
In a statement posted on the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website that day, spokesperson Zakharova said, "Russia will not stand idly by as South Korea's weapons and military equipment are handed over to Ukraine's neo-Nazis, who attack Russian territory and kill civilians."
Zakharova also said, "President Vladimir Putin said that this treaty is purely defensive, and military support will only be provided if one of the two countries is attacked, so South Korea has nothing to worry about," adding, "If Seoul does not intend to attack Pyongyang, then why such a sharp reaction?"
Zakharova further criticized, "During President Putin's state visit to North Korea, Seoul and Washington (USA) conducted a four-day aerial exercise involving fighter jets over the Korean Peninsula airspace," calling it "all clearly the behavior of a potential aggressor."
