County Chief Jeong Jongbok, "Total Effort for Gijang, a City Embracing Happiness and Opening the Future"
Gijang-gun, Busan recently held a commemorative tree planting ceremony for the offspring of the "Boeun Songni Jeongipumsong" (Natural Monument No. 103) at the Gijang-gun Office on the 26th.
The event, held on the 26th, was attended by Gijang-gun Mayor Jeong Jongbok, Gijang-gun Council Chairman Park Woosik, council members, and about 20 related officials.

The participants planted the Jeongipumsong offspring, which stands 2 meters tall with a base diameter of 10 cm, wishing for the endless development and prosperity of Gijang-gun, a region proud of its long history and tradition.
The Jeongipumsong offspring planted this time was grown through seed collection, cuttings, or grafting of the natural monument tree, with permission from the Cultural Heritage Administration. It was distributed as part of Boeun-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do’s project to supply offspring trees, which has been ongoing since 2008.
Pine trees like Jeongipumsong retain their strong and noble value, remaining green throughout the year despite any adversity. With this in mind, the county promoted the distribution of Jeongipumsong offspring in hopes of Gijang-gun’s continued prosperity and the happiness of its residents, and was finally selected in March as a distribution institution for five offspring trees.
Mayor Jeong Jongbok stated, "It has already been two years since the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration, and we have passed the halfway point," adding, "In the remaining two years, I will review the progress of the pledged projects promised to the residents and actively pursue specialized strategies tailored to each town and township to achieve balanced development throughout the county."
Starting with the Gijang-gun Office, the county will continue commemorative tree planting at major locations and forest recreation sites in each town and township, including Jeonggwan-eup Administrative Welfare Center, Cheolma-myeon Administrative Welfare Center, Jangan Healing Forest, and World Cup Village.
