A key official of the People Power Party's floor leadership said in a phone call on the same day, "Floor Leader Choo is expected to arrive at Incheon Port around 7 to 8 p.m."

Accordingly, Jeong Jeom-sik, the chairman of the Policy Committee, and Bae Jun-young, the senior deputy floor leader, decided to meet Floor Leader Choo near Incheon Port to convey their intention to reappoint him. The People Power Party held a closed-door party meeting that afternoon and decided to reaffirm their confidence in Floor Leader Choo. After the meeting, Jeong Jeom-sik told reporters, "Representatives by faction spoke at the meeting urging Floor Leader Choo to return to the floor leadership promptly, and finally, the consensus of all attending members was gathered."
