[Polpol News] President Yoon's Approval Rating Drops 2%p to 27%... People Power Party 29% · Democratic Party 25%

President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating for his administration has slightly declined compared to two weeks ago. Opinions on North Korea sharply diverged between viewing it as a subject for reconciliation and cooperation and seeing it as a target of hostility and vigilance.


According to the National Barometer Survey (NBS) conducted from the 24th to the 26th by polling firms Embrain Public, K-STATS Research, Korea Research, and Hankook Research (telephone interviews using virtual mobile numbers with 1,007 men and women aged 18 and older nationwide), 27% of respondents said President Yoon is managing state affairs well. This is a 2 percentage point decrease compared to the regular survey conducted two weeks ago. The percentage of respondents who said he is doing poorly increased by 1 percentage point to 64%.


Party support was recorded as 29% for the People Power Party, 25% for the Democratic Party of Korea, 14% for the Party for Justice and Innovation, 4% for the Reform Party, and 1% for the Progressive Party. Those who answered 'no support for any party,' 'don't know,' or 'no response' accounted for 27%.

Amid tensions in inter-Korean relations, such as the incident involving balloon propaganda, 47% perceived North Korea as a 'subject for reconciliation and cooperation,' while 46% saw it as a 'target of hostility and vigilance.' Compared to a year ago, the perception of North Korea as a subject for reconciliation and cooperation decreased by 1 percentage point.


Regarding the introduction of a volunteer military system, 51% supported it, while 39% opposed it. Concerning the length of military service, 54% considered the current duration appropriate, 30% said it should be extended, and 11% said it should be shortened. Regarding support for lethal weapons to Ukraine, 55% opposed it, while 34% supported it.
