Jinbo Party Daejeon Branch: "People Power Party Should Stop Power Struggles and Go to the Frontlines of People's Livelihood"

The Progressive Party Daejeon City Branch urged the People Power Party to "stop the power struggle and focus on the livelihood issues" in relation to the disruption of the Daejeon City Council chairperson election.

On the 27th, the Progressive Party stated in a press release, "The reason for the disruption is said to be the power struggle over the distribution of standing committee chairpersons among People Power Party members," and pointed out, "Out of 22 Daejeon city council members, 20 belong to the People Power Party, so the mismanagement of the Daejeon City Council is entirely the responsibility of the People Power Party."

They continued, "Daejeon is one of the places with the highest number of victims of jeonse fraud, and citizens are suffering from high prices and high interest rates, while self-employed businesses are facing the greatest crisis," emphasizing, "The Daejeon City Council should not be engaged in a power struggle but should visit sites expected to be affected by heatwaves and heavy rains, as well as livelihood sites, to devise countermeasures."

They also warned, "If the power struggle among People Power Party members prolongs into a fierce conflict, the citizens of Daejeon will deliver a stern judgment."

Earlier, on the 26th, the Daejeon City Council held the 1st plenary session of the 279th extraordinary meeting and voted on Kim Seon-gwang (Jung-gu 2), who registered as a candidate for chairperson, but the motion was rejected as it failed to secure a majority with 11 votes in favor and 11 invalid votes.
