Anseong City Discusses Agricultural Exchange and Cooperation with Laos Delegation

Promotion of Seasonal Worker Introduction and Other Measures

On the 25th, Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 27th that a delegation from Laos visited Anseong City Hall to discuss exchanges in the agricultural sector. The delegation included more than 10 representatives, including officials from the Laotian government and directors of the Chamber of Commerce.

The Laotian delegation discussed ways to promote exchange and cooperation in agriculture, including personnel exchanges between Anseong City and Laos. In particular, they discussed the employment of Laotian workers in Korea, the introduction of seasonal workers, and providing educational opportunities for Laotian youth in Anseong, promising continuous development of their relationship in the future.

Sengdabong Khamla, Director of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos, said, "Korea is very popular among Laotian teenagers and young adults," adding, "I hope Laotian youth will be able to realize their dreams in Anseong."

Yu Tae-il, Vice Mayor of Anseong City, responded, "We will attract excellent human resources from Laos to supplement the shortage of agricultural workers and establish a foundation to spread Korea's advanced agricultural technology to Laos."

Meanwhile, since last year, Anseong City has been operating the province's first 'Public Seasonal Worker Center' and is promoting foreign seasonal worker projects, including the construction of dormitories for foreign workers.
