The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Division (PCC), which is investigating the incident where the police failed to properly preserve the scene during the attack on former Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung, conducted a search and seizure at Busan Gangseo Police Station on the 27th.
According to the PCC, prosecutors and investigators from Investigation Division 2 began the search and seizure at Busan Gangseo Police Station around 9 a.m. that day.
Earlier, on the 27th of last month, the PCC summoned former Busan Gangseo Police Chief Ok Young-mi as a suspect and questioned her about the circumstances of how the scene was handled immediately after the attack on former leader Lee.
The PCC launched a full-scale investigation following the Democratic Party's Political Terror Countermeasures Committee's accusation in February against former Chief Ok and Busan Police Commissioner Woo Cheol-moon for evidence tampering. The committee claimed that immediately after the attack on January 2, the police failed to preserve the scene and cleaned it with water using plastic bottles, which they argued constituted crime scene destruction and evidence tampering.
