"Leading the Plastic Circular Economy"
GS Caltex has unveiled a new lubricant container that increases the proportion of recycled plastic.
On the 27th, GS Caltex announced that it has developed a lubricant container applying a new 3-Layer design and has started applying it to its products. The 3-Layer design consists of three layers, mixing 30% recycled plastic raw materials with general plastic raw materials.
The newly developed lubricant container not only reduced the amount of plastic used by about 15%, but also increased the proportion of recycled plastic from the previous 20% to 30%. The new container has been applied to half of the 6ℓ products, and it will be expanded to 1ℓ and 4ℓ size containers in the future.
Since October last year, GS Caltex has ensured that 20% of recycled plastic raw materials are included in all plastic lubricant containers it produces. This is part of GS Caltex’s carbon reduction business area called 'Green Transformation (eco-friendly transition),' which focuses on responding to future environmental changes such as carbon neutrality and energy transition.
GS Caltex is expanding its recycling business through physical and chemical recycling methods of waste plastics to establish a plastic circular economy. In addition, it plans to broaden eco-friendly businesses such as white bio, hydrogen, and CCUS (carbon capture, utilization, and storage).
A GS Caltex official said, "By proactively developing the new container, we have been able to reduce the use of general plastics and increase the use of recycled plastics," adding, "We will continue to enhance the usability of carbon reduction products in the future."
